Jacqueline Haring

Research Associate II

ISB

Jackie Haring is a Research Associate working to improve and apply micro-SPLiT single cell RNA sequencing to investigate diverse microbial populations. She is currently involved in projects focused on investigating bacterial resistance to phage infection and identifying and studying microbiomes present in marine and oral samples.

Jackie pursued a B.S. in Neuroscience and minor in Disability Studies at UCLA. Under UCLA’s Neurology Department, she worked in the Carmichael Lab to apply mouse models of Vascular Dementia to investigate mechanisms of action and related behavioral deficits to design novel therapeutic interventions. Her work there culminated in co-authorship in Deconstructing the Intercellular Interactome in Vascular Dementia with Focal Ischemia for Therapeutic Applications, a project that integrated a VaD mouse model transcriptome with a human VaD snRNA-Seq dataset to identify shared dysregulated pathways through a custom ligand-receptor (L-R) interaction database and regulate these as potential therapeutic targets to alleviate behavioral and motor deficits.

In her free time, she enjoys practicing and teaching yoga, backpacking, and painting.
